I have this thing. What happens is that when I am sitting down, and my feet dangle because I can’t touch the ground (like ALWAYS on an aeroplane) I get this ache in my knee. Or, if I sit with my knees in a slightly awkward outstretched position for too long. Like when I am driving …
And Elise gets it. And Dad gets it in the same place. So it’s a family thing.
But I have found a solution. When I am driving at least. High heel shoes.
I often feel a bit OVERDRESSED rocking up to Merryn’s farm, or the beach, or a camping site in high heels. But it works. So I go there.
These are my latest driving heels. Corkies. They are super comfy. I bought them at the op shop.
The gold is a bit dressed up. The cork is a bit dressed down. Tan is a bit more casual than black?
The Elk sale is on. Til Sunday. 296 Plenty Road, Preston (just north of Bell Street on the right hand side heading outbound). How super. I love a bargain.
I went yesterday. I was at Savers at 2pm on Sydney Road, Brunswick waiting to go into the change room when I suddenly remembered it was on. I just put all my stuff straight down and left. I felt like someone in a TV ad. The girl at the change room door was a little miffed I think.
But I knew it was going to be good (even better than Savers) and I wanted to get there before school pick up.
And it was. I am going back today to buy some Christmas presents. Because with less than an hour to shop yesterday it was (pretty much) all about me!
Rings $2. Brooches $5. Necklaces $15. Shoes from $30. Handbags (you’ll be pleased to know I didn’t buy one – I’ve now got enough bags to sink a ship) and clothes.
Love. Love. Love.
Here’s what I got …
two pairs of shoes, 3 necklackes, a hat and two brooches … I’d just been thinking I needed a new hat
And out the front another shop, Notebook. All about stationery. And other bits and bobs that I want to look at better.
I reckon Clive’s mum and four sisters would love some Elk jewellery for Christmas … don’t you?
A nice necklace would be the perfect accompaniment to a home made knitted dish cloth …. Well maybe not …
Yesterday in the playground after school I was talking to Trish, and Fleur came along, looking gorgeous as usual. She’s had 4 kids and I don’t know how she does it. Well she did give me a clue. I recall our conversation once where she expounded on how much she loves the gym. I think this might be the key to bouncing back … hmm … not really rocket science … but very good for me to note … again. Yes, I should go to the gym.
Anyway, we started discussing shoes. I admired hers. And she explained that she ‘organises’ a Mother’s Day present that takes the form of shoes from the shop Cinori in Clifton Hill every year. And as I have a bit of a shoe fetish, and this fetish used to centre around the Wonders brand that Cinori imports from Portugal, the conversation carried on.
We then moved on to her jeans, I liked the zips, and she told us that she bought them on Ebay for $5, and then couldn’t resist mentioning that her jacket came from the op shop in preparation for going to the snow (last weekend). What a great find. $5 again. It is from lululemon (originally). It has a micro-polar fleece lining. Perfect for the snow. As Trish noted, it would have cost a couple of hundred bucks new. Good work Fleur!
Anyway, as I hadn’t done a post for today, I whipped out my phone and took a few snaps.
Nice shoes huh? Great jeans – I really want some with zips! Excellent jacket. An outfit for $10 – if you don’t count the Mother’s Day spend … but you don’t have to, because that’s a present. Pretty good!
