My collection of Johnson ware includes egg cups.
Today it’s all about the yellow (although I do have matching egg cups in blue, green and pink). And the roses (they’re Johnson too).
Yes, it’s all quite sunny and summery and rosy at our house this morning!
These cups and side plates come from my great aunty Jean who died when I was a teenager. She had a farm at Yarra Glen when we were little and we’d often go and visit, and play all day in her old farm shed stacked with old furniture, and feed the chooks, visit the lambs and horses, pat the goat and use her bellows to get the fire in the kitchen going. And climb in the pine trees and play in the paddocks and then stay the night.
We got to sleep in the glass walled room on the verandah.
These were always on display in the china cabinet.
They’re so beautiful. I love the black one especially, but the combination of colours together is so lovely. Very today …
And I remember how handy these plates were. You could have a cup of tea and boiled fruit cake all at once.
Elise owns them now. Lucky her.
