playground fashion

Yesterday in the playground after school I was talking to Trish, and Fleur came along, looking gorgeous as usual.  She’s had 4 kids and I don’t know how she does it.  Well she did give me a clue.   I recall our conversation once where she expounded on how much she loves the gym.  I think this might be the key to bouncing back … hmm … not really rocket science … but very good for me to note … again.  Yes, I should go to the gym.

Anyway,  we started discussing shoes.  I admired hers.  And she explained that she ‘organises’ a Mother’s Day present that takes the form of shoes from the shop Cinori in Clifton Hill every year.  And as I have a bit of a shoe fetish, and this fetish used to centre around the Wonders brand that Cinori imports from Portugal, the conversation carried on.

We then moved on to her jeans, I liked the zips, and she told us that she bought them on Ebay for $5, and then couldn’t resist mentioning that her jacket came from the op shop in preparation for going to the snow (last weekend).  What a great find.  $5 again.  It is from lululemon (originally).  It  has a micro-polar fleece lining.  Perfect for the snow.   As Trish noted, it would have cost a couple of hundred bucks new.  Good work Fleur!

Anyway, as I hadn’t done a post for today, I whipped out my phone and took a few snaps.

Nice shoes huh?  Great jeans – I really want some with zips!  Excellent jacket.  An outfit for $10 – if you don’t count the Mother’s Day spend … but you don’t have to, because that’s a present.  Pretty good!

what I did for my birthday …

I went to the op shop.  With Elise.  Pretty funny huh?

Yep, I thought hard about what I wanted to do for the afternoon and I went to Savers in Greensborough …

… and then went out to Estelle for dinner (we had the 5 course menu which really was super delicious … the rhubarb and mandarin dessert at the end was GREAT!).

At Savers I bought …

  • an excellent pair jeans for me
  • a great cookbook for one of the nieces or nephews for Christmas (I really liked the first one in this series)
  • and a fur coat???!!

I am going to turn it into some furniture. I am inspired by the stools made by Wild Chairy in New Jersey … Now I just need a fancy stool or two …

anglesea op shop – is it the best in the world?

We are super lucky to be down at Airey’s Inlet, and yesterday I headed in to Anglesea for some op shopping.

Hello Seaside Seconds!

I love the kitchen room at this op shop. Actually I love every room at this op shop. And straight away I found 2 little containers for the kids to take hot food to school. Thermos brand, spoons included. How great! And check out these saucepans, heavy, enamelled, great condition, excellent shape, super kitsch … They’ll add a touch of ‘fun floral european yesterday’ to wherever they finally reside.

And for me a pair of skinny leg Zara jeans. And for our couch a bone cushion cover …

And I got some mags for 20 cents each – holiday reading and crosswords in front of the fire. Perfect. Bathrooms, kitchens, Royals. Bring on the bad weather, I am ready!
