the best scones ever?

Last week my aunty invited me to lunch at a cafe called Jam and Cream.  It is in behind LaTrobe university (when I say behind, I mean south, at 1 Orr Street in Heidelberg Heights) and she thought that I would like it because it has lots of interesting second hand things … and as I discovered perhaps the best scones ever!  Not perhaps … definitely.  I reckon.

Look, I can’t say that scones are my thing.  I ordered the shepherds pie … but it came with a cheesy scone that was so light and delicious that when I go back again I definitely wouldn’t consider anything else.  And look, love heart butter!

And Scarlett was sick for the day, so she came along too, which was excellent, because she ordered from the whippersnapper menu, scones with jam (no cream) and hot chocolate.  And it was super fun for her.  There were sprinkles and tiny marshmallows and the hot chocolate came in a tiny teapot for one (with loads more marshmallows).  It was nearly-six-year-old heaven!

Out the back is a cute pink caravan that you can eat in and book for kids parties.

Out the front is a vintage green bike that I love.

In the window is a washing line of white underwear.  And there are crocheted cushions for the seats, scrabble tiles used for table numbers, lovely bunting made from doilies and a GREAT chenille door drape (is this the right description???).

And lots of teacups and interesting bits and bobs around the place.

And I like the lace patterns painted on the concrete floor.

We got there early and it was a bit empty. But by 1pm it was packed with scone lovers of all ages.  Check out the variety of scones you can order … they come out hot from the oven … yum!!!
